We were well impressed by Leyton Orient goalkeeper Scott Barrett's recent attempts to beat the fuel crisis in England so that he could make it to the team bus for the trip to Newcastle for their second round League Cup tie. His team-mate Matt Lockwood's revealed just how far our hero went to get his tank filled. "Scott was so desperate for petrol that he drained his lawnmower and his wife's car, attached the hose to the fuel tank and started to suck like mad, ending up with a load of fumes in his gob. Then he couldn't stop the flow and squirted himself in the eye with a spray of four-star. What made it worse was the fact his missus is a nurse who was given priority at the pumps anyway." And after all that trouble? Scott was only on the bench and his grass is in desperate need of a cutting.
