Trevor Giles may make a return to the Meath team when they face Laois in a pivotal Division One A match on Sunday. Charles McCarthy and Shane McKeigue have also resumed full training in Seán Boylan's revamped panel. The Meath selectors recently trimmed down their squad, with Nigel Nestor and John Cullinane among the absentees.
Like Meath, Laois, now playing catch-up in their division, are expected to announce a team this evening. Ross Munnelly, troubled with a shoulder injury for the past month, may be fit enough to claim some sort of role at the weekend.
Longford leave one vacancy for their visit to Mayo. Carl Conefry missed out on the game against Tyrone a fortnight ago due to injury but comes back into contention pending fitness. Niall Sheridan had replaced him but was taken off against Tyrone and is currently injured. Dermot Brady makes his first appearance of this campaign at left-corner back.
Mayo, meanwhile, are boosted by the return of Michael Moyles to an attack that has impressed in the opening phase of the league. His return sees the attacking lines altered, with the prolific newcomer Austin O'Malley moving into full forward.
Although Fergal Kelly played some minutes with his club last weekend, he has not yet recovered full fitness while John Maughan is still waiting for the recovery of Alan Dillon and Conor Mortimer as his team pushes for a place in the league semi-finals over the coming weeks.
Paul Clancy, just back from Australia, resumed training with Galway this week and his featuring against Limerick in Ballinasloe has not been ruled out. Liam Kerins had hoped to finalise his side last night but the team will now be announced today.
Stephen Kelly is a surprise omission from the Limerick team. He is replaced by former hurler Mike O'Brien, starting for the first time in the league.
