ALL-IRELAND SHC RELEGATION PHASE ONE Clare 2-24 Wesford 2-18: CLARE WON as anaemic a game as you're ever likely to see but no one had a clue what was resolved in Portlaoise.
Clare manager Mike McNamara was critical of the relegation process and of Special Congress, which didn’t consider the full implications of their decisions. He said: “The DRA made a momentous decision to show that they are aware there are anomalies that have to be ironed out and show a lot of people that from now on they’d want to sit up in congress and find out what’s happening.”
Clare produced a strong second half performance to win, with Niall Gilligan scoring 1-10.
