WICKLOW SHC FINAL/Glenealy 3-9 Carnew Emmets 3-6:GLENEALY HAD to withstand a late goal rush by Carnew to secure their 12th championship title at Aughrim yesterday.

But the victory margin of just three points at the final whistle did not truly reflect the dominance of Glenealy over the hour.

For 50 minutes Carnew did not score from play with their six points coming from frees by the evergreen Don Hyland.

Enan Glynn at full forward had led the Glenealy charge with a goal in each half and he set up the third for Eoin Dunne on 47 minutes.

At that stage they led by 3-7 to 0-6 and looked to be coasting to another comfortable win over their arch rivals.

But out of the blue Carnew came with a late surge that brought two goals by full forward Gary Doran and a third by Nick Skelton before the end, but it was too late.
