ALTHOUGH well beaten by Wylde Hide and Fissure Seal in the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park in January, Love and Porter appeared not to stay after having every chance at the second last. She will be better suited to the four furlong shorter trip in today's Monard Handicap Chase at Tipperary. Love and Porter previously won over two miles and six fur longs at Thurles, beating Monalee River to whom she received 5lb. The latter's subsequent good showing, when runner up to Uncle Ernie at Fairyhouse, speaks volumes in favour of Jimmy O'Connor's consistent charge who finished third behind Carrigeen Kerria and Son Of War over three miles at Fairyhouse.
New Co improved enormously over hurdles during the season and Mouse Morris' charge won handicap chases at Clonmel and Limerick late last year. Lisselan Prince won readily over this distance at Gowran Park but was mistake prone at Leopardstown and again when beaten 15 lengths by Indestructible at Clonmel. The latter is now 8lb worse off. A good round of jumping might see Lisselan Prince troubling Love and Porter.
Tommy Carberry may have the winning of the Lattin Handicap Hurdle with Bobbyjo. Although getting the best part of two stone he beat the facile Leopardstown winner MaCallister quite readily at Down Royal earlier in the month.
Three Musketeers carries a lot of weight in the opening Kilfrush Handicap but he ran well in better company at the Curragh where he was successful four times and needs soft ground to be seen at his best.
