2.00 "This is a very hard race to kick the day off. I did have a little fancy for Celtic Son but he has an awful lot of weight now. Tom Taaffe's Tumbling Dice must have a small chance and Cornish Sett is coming here in form. But if I had to pick one it would be Reveillez who at least is at the right end of the handicap."

Selection: Reveillez

2.35 "Our Vic looks to me like one to take on. He can be a little bit too inconsistent for my liking. But I won't be taking him on with either of the Irish horses, Hi Cloy or Sir OJ. They have small chances but not enough to convince me they are good enough to actually win. I'll stick with Fondmort. He always runs a big race here."

Selection: Fondmort

3.15 "Even though he is getting on a bit now I still think Baracouda will be hard to beat. He has some record around here and the only snag with him is the worry about his age. He might not have to be as good as he was to win but it will still be a hard race. I'll take him on with Golden Cross. I rode him to finish third in the Triumph Hurdle and I thought Stayers even then. He must have a big chance. Johnny Murtagh knows him very well and has done well jumping. He has plenty of bottle for the game and natural talent as well. If the horse is good enough, Johnny will be too."

Selection: Golden Cross

4.00 "This is another of those wide open races. Windsor Boy and Bannow Strand are two Martin Pipe horses with chances but going with a good priced outsider is the best option and Redemption has a decent chance in this. On his best form he looks well handicapped and he's shown in the past he's a fair horse."

Selection: Redemption.

4.40 "Having a good jockey on your side is vitally important around here, and especially in an amateur race. Mr Babbage has been a little disappointing but should appreciate the trip. I'll side with Christy Roche's horse Far From Trouble who is lightly raced and runs well fresh."

Selection: Far From Trouble.

5.20 "I've never trained a winner at the festival but I think I have a good chance of doing so now with Oodachee. He's in great form and as the bottom weight is 10.7, I only have to give away 12lbs. My only problem is that we're about 10lbs higher than we should be. He ran well here in December when third to Attorney General and the form of that race has worked out well. I've purposefully kept him off the winter ground to keep him fresh for today so we must have some confidence in our chance. Oulart won it last year and runs again instead of over fences. He could be a danger."

Selection: Oodachee
