Maureen Flavin celebrated the golden jubilee of the Leinster Ladies Hockey Union in style last week when she won the annual golf outing at Edmondstown and in the space of just seven days had her handicap cut by seven shots. Flavin was a runaway winner of the LHU outing with an excellent score of 46 points to win by seven from Maeve McCarthy (Lahinch/Loreto) with 39 and Rachele McCarville (Hazel Grove/Alexandra) on 38. The winner, a member of the Hermes hockey club, had played off a handicap of 36, but lost four shots for her efforts - and she had already lost three shots a couple of days earlier when playing at Milltown.
