Question: What do the Tirconaill Tribune, Ross Drummond and the USGA Book of the Year have in common? Answer: Lawrence Donegan.
The Scottish-born writer has been awarded the annual USGA International Book Award for Four Iron in the Soul, his entertaining account of a season spent caddying for Drummond on the European Tour.
More recently, Donegan has spent more time playing Gaelic football than golf. He set up home in the Donegal village of Creeslough, took a job with the local paper and joined St Michael's GAA club to provide the raw material for a new book, No News at Throat Lake, a wry view of life in rural Ireland, which will be published in October.
