Two tales from the States. The first concerns 17,000 balls which disappeared from a driving range near Janesville, New York State. When police checked the address of a licence plate number seen on a car nearby, they proceeded to make a decidedly interesting discovery.
At the vehicle's address, more than 35,000 balls were found in a garage. Whereupon they were transported to the local police headquarters to be held in the basement as evidence. And the value of the balls? In excess of $15,000.
Perhaps they might be of use to John Baker from Denver, Colorado who, starting at San Diego on September 1st, plans to hit a golf ball with one foot in the Pacific Ocean and continue to hit as many shots as it takes him to reach the Atlantic in Jacksonville, Florida. He hopes to cover the 2,500 miles at a rate of 10 miles per day.
