Stephanie Meadow continued her stunning professional debut at the US Women's Open to comfortably make the cut after the second round at Pinehurst in North Carolina.

The 22-year-old Royal Portrush golfer had to complete her opening round on Friday morning after weather delays on Thursday and she bogeyed the short 17th to card a one-over 71.

Starting her second round from the 10th on the same No 2 course where Martin Kaymer won the men’s event last Sunday, Meadow picked up one of her two birdies on the 11th before carding back to back bogeys from the 12th.

A further bogey came on the second before she calmed her nerves with a birdie three on the seventh. Meadow’s day would end with a dropped shot on the 124-yard ninth as she signed for a two-over 72 and a place inside the top 20 on three over.
