The Golfing Union of Ireland today announced the names of five elite players to represent Ireland in the upcoming European Individual Championship and the six-man team to compete at the European Seniors Championship.

Darren Crowe (Dunmurry), Shane Lowry (Esker Hills), Gareth Shaw (Lurgan), Rory McIlroy
(Holywood) and Aaron O'Callaghan (Douglas) have been selected  to compete at Biella Golf Club, Italy from 23rd-26th August.

They will all be hoping to emulate the success of fellow countryman Brian McElhinney who last captured the title for Ireland in 2003 at Nairn Golf Club in Scotland.

Peter Cowley (Cork), Tony Goode (Lucan), Maurice Kelly (Killeen), Hugh Mackeown  (Portmarnock), Seamus McParland (Greenore) and Hugh Smyth (Mourne) make up the senior team destined for Ruuhikoski Golf Club in Finland from August 16th-19th.
