SANDFORD PARK were rarely troubled in this one sided encounter with St Brendan's, Bray, at Kilternan. Scrum half Keith Russell scored a try after three minutes and Sandford were 20 points up before their opponents had time to catch their breath.
Trailing by 41 points at the break, St Brendan's stuck to their task but slick handling by Sandford's back line made all the difference and they ran in a further two tries before the finish. Out half Liam Casey linked particularly well with Russell and first centre Ricky Mak.
St Brendan's showed more skill and heart in the forwards than the scoreline indicates; but they could not convert several periods of pressure into scores.
The Sandford forwards, by contrast, combined well with their backs, with their Leinster A player Jonathan Roche Kelly winning the majority of ball out of touch.
Scorers: L Casey two tries and three conversions; D Lyons two tries and conversion, R Mak try, penalty and conversion K Russell two tries, J Roche Kelly try.
