Declan Kelleher will remember the 12th hole at Clontarf for a long time. The member of Royal Tara and Laytown and Bettystown golf clubs holed a sizeable putt on the hole on his way to victory over Tony Goode (Slade Valley) in an epic final of the Lord Mayor's Cup. "It was the 12th hole that turned the game," Goode said. "We were all square playing that hole and after Tony holed for a par, I edged ahead by following him in for a birdie."

However, Goode came back to square the match again on the next before Kelleher holed good putts at 14th and 15th to take a two-hole lead. Goode again came back when he chipped in for a birdie on the 16th but Kelleher secured the necessary half at the next for a 2 and 1 victory.
