Rest of the world skipper Retief Goosen and Michael Campbell helped their team to a 2.5 to 1.5 lead over Europe and the US after the first day of the inaugural Goodwill Trophy in Shenzhen today.

The South African and his New Zealander partner finished 5 and 4 winners over Europe and US captain Colin Montgomerie and Chris DiMarco in the foursomes at the Mission Hills Golf Club.
   
South Korea's K.J. Choi and Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee earned a 3 and 2 victory over England's Paul Casey and Spain's Alejandro Canizares while Swede Henrik Stenson and Bradley Dredge from Wales won a point back for the Ryder Cup countries by beating Australians Paul Sheehan and Peter Senior 4 and 3.
   
China's Zhang Lianwei and Jeev Milkha Singh of India shared the spoils after finishing all square with the English pair of Luke Donald and Nick Dougherty.
   
The tournament, which will be held next year at Celtic Manor in Wales - venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup - concludes with the singles matches tomorrow.
