Half-time substitute Eddie Gormley was Bray's unlikely goal hero as he scored twice, the second in the 90th minute, to retrieve an improbable point.
Stephen Grant made the impact his new manager had predicted with two exquisite first-half goals to appear to set Galway United on their way to victory.
The first, after seven minutes, was route one stuff as Grant used his power and pace to force his way beyond Bray defender Mick Doohan before finishing with a low drive. His second goal came from his right foot. Controlling a pass from Eric Lavine, Grant turned and unleashed a shot which flew into the top corner from 20 yards.
In an effort to rescue to game, Bray brought in Gormley and Barry O'Connor at half-time. They were back in the match within 11 minutes of the restart when they combined for Bray's first. Gormley completed the comeback with a powerful header from Phil Keogh's cross in the 90th minute.
