PLAN WAS taken out of the Eclipse Stakes only at Thursday's final declaration stage and Aidan O'Brien has found a much easier opportunity for the regally bred colt at Gowran tomorrow.
The son of Storm Cat and the Breeders Cup winner Spain ran an honourable eighth in the Newmarket Guineas but wasn't seen again until last weekend when running well in the closing stages in the Listed race won by Lisvale at the Curragh. Tomorrow's nine-furlong conditions race looks an ideal follow-up for Plan, who should go on to better things later in the season.
The topweight for the nine-furlong handicap, Alarazi, boasts placed form in Group races but he has to concede almost 2st to Malande who ran well in last week's Apprentice Derby and has winning form on ground with a cut in it.
The Bellewstown festival winds up this evening and it should pay to wait for the very last race as Willie Mullins gives the Kilbeggan winner Luca Brasi a good chance of a follow-up in the bumper.
Mullins has won this race in three of the last four years and there was an authority to Luca Brasi's victory last time that should make her hard to beat again. John Oxx is another trainer who does well around this circuit and Be Smart can put a poor run at the Curragh behind her in the mile handicap.
