HIGH-FLYING apprentrice Ted Durcan, already successful in two listed races this season, gained his most valuable success when bringing the Jim Bolger-trained Graduated home by a neck from Hargar in the Golden Pages Handicap at Leopardstown on Saturday.
However, following a lengthy inquiry, which was only concluded after the last race, the 23-year-old apprentice was suspended for four days for careless riding after Matangi was badly hampered over a furlong down.
Durcan will miss the first four days of the Galway Festival.
Bolger and his stable jockey Kevin Manning had won the opening two races with Azra and Basanta.
John Oxx allowed Johnny Murtagh put up 2lb overweight on impressive winner Zafzala in the Ballyroan Stakes, while Aidan O'Brien saddled a highly promising newcomer in Johan Cruyff to win the Clarmallagh Maiden.
Once the money came for Mister Munnelly, there was no real surprise that he won the European Breeders Fund Qualifier Handicap, for his stable's runners usually deliver when the money is down.
Trained by Paddy Burke and ridden by the well-regarded apprentice, Richard Condon, Mister Munnelly was sent off the 7 to 4 favourite and readily beat Snoozeandyoulose, prompting the stewards to inquire into the winner's improvement in form.
