Former winners Wayne Grady and Steve Elkington of Australia were among four players to withdraw from the US PGA Championship yesterday.
Grady, who clinched his only major title at Shoal Creek in 1990, pulled out with a wrist injury while Elkington, the 1995 champion at Riviera, cited personal reasons.
Also making premature exits were American Bo Van Pelt, who has returned home to be with his wife Carrie after the birth of their third child, and Australian Mark Hensby, for personal reasons.
The quartet have been replaced in the Medinah field by Americans Jonathan Byrd, Bob Estes, Billy Andrade and Charles Warren.
The 88th PGA Championship starts tomorrow.
