Leg-spinner Godfrey Graham, the youngest cricketer to play for Ireland when he was capped in 1954, will lead a strong Leprechauns side in the match against Mid-Ulster at Sydney Parade today (1.30). The team includes Andre Botha (Clontarf), Jody Myers (Merrion), Joss Singh (CYM), Joe Byrne and Johnny Byrne (Leinster), and the Pembroke pair, Richard Hastie and Ronan Smith.
Graham took two for 47 off a gruelling 17 overs last weekend in the Leprechauns' match against Bagenalstown. Another veteran, Alfie Linehan, capped 11 times between 1971 and 1975, hit a fine 51 for the Leprechauns, before being brilliantly caught and bowled by Jim Butler.
Meanwhile, this year's Senior Interprovincial Championship title has been won by the Northern Cricket Union, who defeated The Ireland Development X1 at Cliftonville CC last Sunday. The Development side, which won the championship outright last year, shows one change for the final match of the series, against Leinster at Malahide next Sunday, as Neil Anderson (Lurgan) comes into the 12-man squad instead of Stephen Donnelly (Woodvale). The final XI will be named on the morning of the match. Play begins at 11.00.
