Grands Prix under threat

The future of the San Marino and Hungarian Grands Prix was under threat last night

The future of the San Marino and Hungarian Grands Prix was under threat last night. The Hungarian organisers have been fined $1 million by the sport's governing body, the FIA, following a track invasion by spectators after this year's race.

The San Marino Grand Prix at Imola will take place subject to clarification of the Italian law relating to criminal responsibility in dangerous sports. Teams have been wary of Imola since the unsuccessful prosecution of Frank Williams and his team's technical director Patrick Head after Ayrton Senna was killed driving one of their cars in the 1994 race.

Meanwhile, China and Malaysia are set to make their provisional debuts on the calendar.
