Nathan Green picked up his first PGA Tour title after seeing off the challenge of Retief Goosen in a playoff at the weather delayed Canadian Open. Green triumphed at the second extra hole after Goosen failed to make his par.
Both players had finished their fourth rounds on 18 under par, four ahead of Anthony Kim and Jason Dufner.
Green appeared to have missed his opportunity with a wild second shot on the first playoff hole, the par five 18th. But Goosen, putting from six feet for birdie, pushed his putt to the right and Green saved his par to keep his hopes alive.
It was Goosen who found trouble at the next, hooking his drive into heavy rough and then sending his approach through the green. The South Afrcian’s up-and-down attempt failed, handing Green, who made a comfortable par, his maiden title.
