Tri-Nations: Australia captain George Gregan is not guaranteed a place on the Wallabies end-of-season tour, coach Eddie Jones said after his team's 34-24 loss to New Zealand in Auckland on Saturday.

Gregan, under pressure to retire after an indifferent season, said he wanted to keep on playing until the next World Cup in 2007 but Jones said it was up to the selectors.

"We've got a selection meeting on Wednesday week and George is like any other player, his selection is assessable by form," Jones told reporters. "But we're certainly very positive about it."

Gregan equalled England prop Jason Leonard's world of 114 Test appearances for a single country in Saturday's loss at Eden Park but had little else to celebrate.

He had to race back into the dressingroom just before the kick-off after realising he had forgotten to put on his jersey then was substituted late in the game.

The loss was Australia's fifth in a row this season - their worst losing streak since 1968/'69 - and prompted further speculation about Gregan's future although he has stated he was planning to go to Europe.
