Dublin have targeted former Wigan and Great Britain scrum-half Andy Gregory as their coach if they win a place in next season's Super League.
The 37-year-old Gregory, who parted company with Salford Reds six weeks ago, admits to being tempted by the prospect of returning to coaching with a brand new club.
"I rejected two First Division clubs because I wanted a complete break but, if everything the Dublin people have spoken of comes off, it will be an exciting project," he said.
"They have a cracking set-up - a ground, sponsors, everything about it is right. It's still in the early stages but I have told them, if they get into Super League, we'll talk again."
Dublin was one of five potential clubs to submit applications for Super League franchises by the May 31 deadline. Other bids came from Cardiff, Swansea, the Midlands and Northern Ford Premiership outfit Widnes.
The business plans are currently being studied by a panel set up by both Super League and the Rugby Football League but a decision is not expected for another month.
