Offaly have recalled three players to their side for their Leinster semi-final clash with Wexford at Croke Park on Sunday. Back into the side come Garry and Mark Hannify and John Dooley as Simon Whelehan, Ger Oakley and Paidi Mulhare drop to the subs bench. All three played in the facile victory over Meath in the first round.

The Offaly selectors have, however, left the full forward position vacant which means that some further alterations may yet be made to the staring line-up.

The condition of Adrian Fenlon's ankle ligament injury is exercising minds in the Wexford area. A place has been left for him in the team but he will continue to have treatment and the likelihood is that a final decision will be delayed until Saturday.

If unfit the opinion seems to be that James Purcell would replace Fenlon at midfield even though that would mean two midfielders whose experience would be limited.

The selectors have, nevertheless, named Declan Ruth for his senior championship debut at right half back. Larry O'Gorman can be depended upon to shore up the middle of the defence with Ger Cush in the centre of the fullback line while Paul Codd is selected in the left corner forward slot with a widespread view that that he is one of the most promising players to emerge in Wexford in recent times.

Others who will be under the microscope are Ray McCarthy and Michael Jordan on either side of Storey in the half forward line while Eugene Furlong is selected at left corner back and is expected to make a big impression.

Laois have also left a vacancy in their line up for their clash with Kilkenny. The right corner forward position has not been filled pending fitness tests on three players with Ollie Dowling, Fionan O'Sullivan and Liam Tynan all in the running for positions in the starting line-up.

On the football front Paul Higgins has not been named in the Down team to face Armagh

Leitrim's selectors have postponed selection of their team to meet Galway in the Connacht semi-final until tomorrow night.
