Hard to look past Barati

12.25: Some sort of experience always counts for a lot in these three-year-old hurdles, and that's where Vox Populi comes in. He has yet to win, but I've noticed him staying on every time and that will make a big difference against a horse like Proper Article, who has yet to run over jumps.

12.55: This race looks to have cut up badly, and in the circumstances it's hard to get away from Barati. Some of his placed form last season was very good. If he is right he should be hard to beat.

1.30: I think people have been getting it seriously wrong about Moscow Flyer. I don't think it's a case of him on the slide, rather than simply Jessica's horses not being right. Too much has been read into Central House beating him at Navan.

Central House is improving - but he isn't improving that much. For me, Moscow Flyer is still the best two mile chaser we've ever seen, and he might just be a bit of a price now.

2.00: Another race that looks to have cut up a bit, and even though he is only a four-year-old, I like Tommy Stack's horse Wanango. He stays well, and I was impressed with the way he won at Naas before going over to win in England too. Mr Nosie is the other four-year-old, and he could be the biggest danger.

2.35: Knock Knock was runner-up to Timbera in the 2003 Irish Grand National, and now that he is on the way back I think he might be well handicapped. It's important that the ground looks a lot better for this time of year than it normally is. A lot of horses who have been laid out for this would be happier on soft going, but Knock Knock should be okay. Pearly Jack always runs a good race, and if there is a dark horse in the contest it might be Lost Time.

3.10: I used to ride Le Coudray over hurdles, and he has been dropped a lot in the ratings since then. He just might like it a bit softer. Another old horse who ran well last time is Rince Ri, but the five-year-old Patsy Hall could have too much for both of them.

3.40: Midnight Gift ran a very nice race at the Cheltenham Paddy Power meeting, and obviously stays very well. A lot of these are unknowns, but they will do well to cope with Tom Hogan's horse.

My only two horses today are both at Limerick, where Ransboro (2.50) must have some sort of squeak after a good run at Navan. Compo and Just, however, look like they might still be ahead of the handicapper.

Far More Serious (12.40) has a shout in the maiden hurdle and jumps well enough at home. No amount of schooling can make up for the real thing though.
