Golf:Ireland's Padraig Harrington shot a superb final round of four under par, 67 in the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC, Boston. The Dubliner may have finished long before leader Louis Oosthuizen teed off but his round has all but guaranteed him a place in this week's BMW Championship, the third tournament in the FedEx Cup run-in.
Harrington languished on six over par going into today’s final round and was 63rd in the FedEx standings prior to the start of play with only the top 70 qualifying for this weekend’s BMW Championship.
Despite a bogey at the third, birdies at the fourth, fifth and ninth saw him turn in two under par for the front nine. He slipped back temporarily with a bogey at the 11th but three birdies in his final three holes allowed him to sign for a 67 and a four round total of 286.
His playing partner, Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell suffered another disappointing round, shooting a one over par 72, to finish on seven over for the tournament. Despite this he too will be in action in the BMW Championship.Compatriot Rory McIlroy will be trying to chase down Oosthuizen later today. The former starts three shots behind.
