Padraig Harrington is on course to face Ryder Cup teammate Colin Montgomerie in the opening round of the World Match Play Championship at Wentworth in two weeks' time.
The draw will be determined by the world rankings after next week's dunhill links championship in Scotland, with the exception that defending champion Paul Casey will be the top seed.
As things stand Casey will play American Jerry Kelly in the first round and the highlight of the opening day would see British Open champion Harrington take on the Scot.
American Hunter Mahan has accepted the chance to win the £1million first prize after Tiger Woods, Zach Johnson, Jim Furyk, Sergio Garcia, David Toms and Scott Verplank all turned down the tournament.
Mahan finished 13th in the US Open, sixth in The Open at Carnoustie after a brilliant closing 65 and 18th at the US PGA championship.
Swede Henrik Stenson and Dane Soren Hansen clinched their places in the event from the European Order of Merit this weekend.
