BOXING: World champion Scott Harrison could be stripped of his WBO title if he fails to go through with his defence against Joan Guzman at the King's Hall in Belfast on May 20th.
Harrison, whose clash with former WBO super- bantamweight champion Guzman was postponed from last Saturday due to a mouth infection, failed to turn up for yesterday's news conference in Belfast.
Father and coach Peter Harrison insisted the fighter had simply "missed his plane from Spain" and would be ready to meet unbeaten Guzman of the Dominican Republic in May.
Manager Frank Maloney is equally confident the fight will go ahead and that the Scot will remain on track for a possible clash with Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera, the WBC super-featherweight champion, later this year.
The Belfast show also features Eamonn Magee's WBU welterweight title defence with former WBU light-middleweight champion Takaloo as well as Amir Khan's seventh professional contest.
