Women's 5,000 metres.
Szabo v Ouaziz
With Marion Jones bailing out with a back injury and Kenyan steeplechaser Bernard Barmasi getting a walloping from his compatriot Christopher Koskei, it hasn't been a good week so far for the four athletes still in contention for the Golden League jackpot of $1 million.
Gabriela Szabo of Romania will hoping for better luck when she attempts to defend her 5,000 metres title this evening. The main challenge will come from Morocco's Zahra Ouaziz, fastest in the world this year with a time of 14 minutes 42.03 seconds. While Szabo has concentrated on the 3,000 metres this season (her Golden League event), and has beaten Ouaziz in every outing, the longer distance may make the difference this time out.
