Pool 4

Biarritz v Bath

Parc des Sports Aguilera 2.30

Following their defeat to Ulster last week in Belfast, Biarritz need at least a win to advance to the last eight. Their progress also depends on how Ulster do against Aironi in Italy. Damien Traille moves from outhalf to the centre as Julien Peyrelongue comes in for Biarritz. Bath must also win to keep their European hopes alive and will have seen how Ulster’s discipline and control paid off for them. But with a quarter-final a possibility, this is the biggest game of the season so far for Biarritz.

Pool 3

Ospreys v Toulon

Liberty Stadium 3.30

Tommy Bowe’s knee injury rules him out, with Nicky Walker slotting in for Ospreys against a team that have already qualified but are seeking a home quarter-final. Coach Philippe Saint-Andre makes 14 changes but kicker Jonny Wilkinson retains his place at outhalf. Ospreys are out of qualification and are playing for pride, which is why the likes of Jerry Collins, Mike Phillips and Marty Holah start on the bench. The carrot of a possible place in the Amlin Challenge is all that’s open to the Welsh side.

Pool 6

London Wasps v Toulouse

Adams Park 3.00

Toulouse are flying high this season and need to secure just one point at Adams Park for a home quarter-final, which is of huge importance. They are already through to the knockout stages and arrive in England having made nine changes to their side. Still, they look hot enough for purpose with Clément Poitrenaud, Vincent Clerc, Florian Fritz , Yannick Jauzion and Maxime Medard all lining up to run at Wasps. With 21 points on the board already, they have a strong chance of getting to at least 22.

Pool 1

Edinburgh v Cardiff

Murrayfield 5.45

Cardiff arrive in Edinburgh knowing anything less than a win will also push them out of the Amlin Challenge as they are unable to qualify for the Heineken Cup knock-out phase. They must also rely on other results to go their way. The home side are also out of Heineken Cup contention and must try to recover from their 37-0 hammering by Northampton in Franklin’s Gardens if they are to salvage anything from this season’s competition.

Pool 1

Castres v Northampton

Stade Pierre Antoine 5.45

The 37-0 demolition of Edinburgh last week ensured Northampton’s safe passage into the quarter-finals but coach Jim Mallinder wants the team to determine their own destiny by winning in France and earning a home quarter-final. What stands in Northampton’s way is Castres home record is a formidable one by any standards. They have not yet lost this season in this competition or the Top 14. A physical battle awaits Northampton.

Pool 6

Newport v Glasgow

Rodney Parade 3.00

This one is a dead rubber by any computation. Neither the Welsh side or the Scottish visitors has anymore interest in the Heineken Cup and neither can qualify for the Amlin Challenge quarter-finals. Dragons were comprehensively beaten by Toulouse last week and need to bounce back. But pride is the only thing up for grabs in Rodney Parade.

Pool 5

Perpignan v Scarlets

Stade Aime Giral 1.00

It remains all very tight in this pool and Perpignan must win when the Scarlets arrive. They have made five changes to their side, one of them in the front row where the mobility of Guilhem Guirado is preferred to Marius Tincu’s solid scrum work. It’s a difficult assignment for the Welsh side and Perpignan have every chance of not just the win but an important bonus point too.

Pool 5

Leicester v Benetton Treviso

Welford Road 1.00

Leicester must win again to have any chance of the knock-out stages and Richard Cockerill makes only one change to the side that beat Scarlets last week. Dan Cole comes in at tighthead prop for Martin Castrogiovanni, while Louis Deacon captains the side as Geordan Murphy recovers from an ankle injury. Leicester are expected to win and perhaps secure a bonus point too against the Italian side that has made eight changes following their hammering by Perpignan last week.
