AIDAN O'BRIEN'S Family Tradition (Christy Roche) proved a big disappointment in Milan yesterday, with the Prix Marcel Boussac third running a disappointing fifth to John Dunlop's Criterium (1m).
The Irish filly was beaten a little over eight lengths as Hello (Fernando Jovine) spearheaded a British clean sweep by coming home by three and a quarter lengths.
It was Dunlop's fourth success in the mile prize. Peter Chapple Hyam's Panama City, Michael Bell's Ivan Luis and Michael Stoute's Further Outlook were second, third and fourth respectively.
Annaba (11-10) became John Gosden's sixth consecutive French winner in a 15-day span in the Group Two Prix du Conseil de Paris (I2f) by quickening up well from second place to beat Poliglote a cosy two lengths at Longchamp.
Frankie Dettori said: "The secret with Annaba is the very soft ground. I took Freddie Head on half a mile out and had to ride a more positive race than when she won the Prix de Royallieu."
However, the British were out of luck in the Group One Prix de la Foret (7f), with Ian Balding's Tagula and Inzar, running fifth and sixth respectively to 22.5-1 shot A Magicman from Germany.
A Magicman, well ridden by Andreas Suborics, duly notched his second Group win at the course and biggest career victory by just holding the fast finishing Miesque's Son a head.
