Waterford make three changes for Sunday's All-Ireland quarter-final with champions Cork. Manager Justin McCarthy has as anticipated dropped goalkeeper Stephen Brenner and into nets comes Clinton Hennessy for his championship debut.
The more surprising change sees Brian Phelan dropped from wing back despite the problems experienced by the team's full-back line in the qualifier defeat by Clare. Phelan was also unexpectedly dropped for the previous meeting with Cork in May's Munster semi-final but has played since in the qualifier series.
One other change brings in Jack Kennedy for his first championship start in place of the suspended Eoin McGrath. Paul Flynn is also named in the starting line-up despite growing concerns about his thigh injury.
Losing to Clare two weeks ago shook up Waterford's season in that it forced them into opposition with one of the provincial champions earlier than expected.
Mickey Harte makes just one change for tomorrow's Ulster final replay with Armagh at Croke Park. Pascal McConnell regains the goalkeeper's jersey from John Devine after recovering from injury. Veteran forward Peter Canavan is also included after taking a full part in training last night.
McConnell sustained an injury to his sternum in the semi-final against Cavan and couldn't play in the drawn final. Canavan started that match with shoulder and rib injuries, which were aggravated during the first half and he was unable to continue after half-time. His return to fitness is a big positive for the team, as the former footballer of the year was struggling the last day and missed a number of kicks he would normally have converted.
Opponents Armagh make two definite changes and leave one vacancy for tomorrow's match. John Toal's injury ensures a starting place for Philip Loughran who replaced him during the drawn match. Another substitution that day reflects the second change with John McEntee replacing his twin brother, Tony, at centre forward.
The vacancy is left at right-wing forward. According to county secretary Patrick Nugent there are no injury concerns behind the decision, which is simply a tactical call. Martin O'Rourke has been the regular in this position but he was replaced by Paddy McKeever in the drawn match. The position is believed to be between the two of them although it has also been suggested Malachy Mackin could come into consideration.
Laois make four changes to the team that beat Antrim in the qualifiers for the All-Ireland hurling relegation semi-final against Dublin in Dr Cullen Park tomorrow evening. This is an opportunity for either team to guarantee their place in next season's MacCarthy Cup.
Goalkeeper Paddy Mullaney, defenders Joe Fitzpatrick and Pat Mahon and midfielder Joe Phelan make way from the side that won narrowly in Casement Park. In their places come Kevin Galvin, Brian Campion, Cahir Healy and Enda Maher respectively.
Meanwhile the Dublin County Board have confirmed they will appeal the Leinster Council's finding in the ongoing St Brigid's-Kilmacud Crokes saga. Last week's provincial appeal by St Brigid's against the board's rejection of their objection to defeat in the county championship on the grounds of Kilmacud player Mark Vaughan's ineligibility.
The Dublin appeal will be heard by the GAA's new Central Appeals Committee but in all likelihood it will end up back with the Disputes Resolution Authority, whose original decision gave Vaughan the go-ahead to play in the fixture before the GAA rule book was found to be flawed in its inaccurate incorporation of a motion passed at the 1996 Annual Congress.
The GAA have confirmed a number of tickets for Sunday's All-Ireland hurling quarter-finals between Clare and Wexford and Waterford and Cork have been returned from the participating counties. These will be on sale from the ticket office in Croke Park from 11.0 this morning until 7.0 this evening and will also be available tomorrow from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
Adult stand tickets will cost €35 and Hill 16 tickets €20. There are a limited number of family, tickets (adult €35; child €5) still available for the Canal End
