Qualifying School:Oskar Henningsson of Sweden is the halfway leader after three rounds of the qualifying school final at PGA Golf de Catalunya, near Girona, in Spain. The Swede has been in imperious form, preceding today's 65 with two 66s, for a three shot lead over England's Danny Willett.

Jonathan Caldwell is the nearest Irish challenger one eight-under-par after a 69. Michael McGeady is on seven under thanks to his third 69 and Ulsterman Michael Hoey is a shot behind him after a 69.

Simon Thornton is further off the pace on one under after his second consecutive 72.

Former Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart, who lost his tour card at the end of 2007 and has been playing on invites, boosted his chances of a return with a 67 which lifted him into a share of 15th on a seven under.

Sweden's Joakim Haeggman, another former Ryder Cup player, and Bristol rookie Chris Wood, fifth in July's Open at Birkdale, sit alongside Coltart but Peter Baker, another ex-Ryder Cup star, is in grave danger of missing the 72-hole cut on four over despite a battling 68.

Willett, a 21-year-old Yorkshire rookie and former world amateur number one, carved out a best-of-the-day eight-under 63 over the Red Course for a 14-under aggregate of 200 to move into second place, three shots behind Henningson.

Willett, who has progressed through both stage one and two of the gruelling Q-school process, is forging a working relationship with experienced caddie Malcolm Mason, who carried the bag of former Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance during his successful tour years.

"Malcolm has been with me since the Johnnie Walker at Gleneagles in August and he has come through all the Q-school stages with me," said the former Walker
Cup player after a round in which the highlight was a seven iron to eight feet for eagle at the 10th.

"We are getting used to each other. His experience is vital in these situations. He is an authoritative figure and if he tells me to do something then I will do it. He knows what to do and it's great for me to have someone like that around."

Henningsson, who has led from day one, cemented his place at the top with a neatly-crafted 65 for a 17-under total as his bid to land one of the 30 tour cards up for grabs took another major step forward.

"This has to be some of the best golf I've ever played in my career," said the Swede, who birdied his final three holes. "I certainly can't remember another time like it and things couldn't really be going any better."
