Henry, Lickliter share rain-halted lead

US Tour: JJ Henry and Frank Lickliter shared the lead at 16-under-par when thunderstorms halted the $3

US Tour: JJ Henry and Frank Lickliter shared the lead at 16-under-par when thunderstorms halted the $3.5 million PGA Kemper Open in the final round in Maryland last night.

The Americans will resume their duel this morning following a day of rain-interrupted play that began at dawn with the start of round three and ended with only a handful of players able to finish 36 holes.

Henry has four holes to play while Lickliter was just starting the back nine when play was halted for the final time.

Australia's Bradley Hughes stood third at 12-under par through nine holes.

Gilder, a third-round coleader with Watson and Thorpe, shot a 70. Women: Sweden's Carin Koch fired a six-under-par 66 to win the LPGA Corning Classic yesterday by two strokes from Scotland's Mhairi McKay and fellow Swede Maria Hjorth.

Links Trophy: Scottish champion Steven O'Hara added yet another piece of silverware to his blossoming collection after securing victory in the St Andrews Links Trophy yesterday.

Having already captured a record-breaking win in the Craigmillar Park Open in April, the 20-year-old from Colville Park collected his second major honour of the season after signing-off from his four rounds with a six-under aggregate of 281 to finish four shots ahead of Gainsborough's Paul Bradshaw.

But the final day's play over the venerable Fife links was overshadowed by the disqualification of David Griffiths, the leader after 54 holes , which robbed the tournament of a potentially fascinating last round duel.

The 21-year-old from West Herts would have taken a slender one-shot advantage over O'Hara into the final 18 holes, but was disqualified alongside playing partner Gareth Paddison from New Zealand after both players had signed the wrong cards.

The only Irishman in the tournament withdrew yesterday morning after damaging his back on the practice range. It is in the area of the injury he suffered in March in Spain.

Meanwhile, Jamie Donaldson, the rookie pro from Macclesfield, showed the more mature campaigners how to play in the wind when he carded a closing eight-under-par 65 to finish second.

But he came up a shot shy of Frenchman Sebastien Delagrange, who led from start to finish and returned 72 for 272 and 20 under par.
