IT’S AS you were at the top of the Leinster first division table after all three title contenders picked up wins on Saturday, Hermes maintaining their one-point advantage over Railway Union and Loreto with a 5-0 defeat of UCD.

Anna O’Flanagan’s hat-trick had the points all but sealed for Hermes by half-time, Gillian Pinder and Deirdre Duke completing the scoring after the break. In contrast, Loreto, without their outfield internationals, struggled to find a way past Trinity until seven minutes from time, Nikki Keegan getting the winner from a penalty stroke.

After having their perfect record ended by Hermes a fortnight ago Railway got back to winning ways against Glenanne, Jean McDonnell opening the scoring for the champions just before the break, Kate McKenna getting their second.

Old Alexandra’s 2-0 win over Bray lifted them above UCD in to fourth in the table, 10 points behind Railway and Loreto, while Pembroke Wanderers remain second from bottom after drawing with Corinthian at home.
