Tim Herron became the third golfer in as many days to equal the La Cantera course record on Saturday, carding an eightunder-par 64 that gave him sole possession of the lead after three rounds of the Texas Open on Saturday.

Herron stood at 14-under 202, one shot ahead of Rick Fehr after three rounds. Herron fired a 30 on the back nine to break out of an early third-round log-jam atop the leaderboard and put himself in position to claim his first PGA Tour.

U.S. Ryder Cup players Lee Janzen and Jeff Maggert were never in contention on the final day, but said they were pleased with their warm-up for next weekend's showdown at Valderrama.
