St Mary's, Mullingar 2-11 Colaiste Eoin, Dublin 2-3:A SPIRITED first-half display by St Mary's CBS in Mullingar yesterday helped defeat Coláiste Eoin. St Mary's led by six points at the break and John Heslin hit form to land 1-10 in the match.
Coláiste Eoin’s Seán MacCraith’s swirling lineball found the net after three minutes but by the 10th minute the home side were level through Heslin frees. Padraig Ó Dalaigh restored Coláiste Eoin’s lead with a free but Heslin with two points, one from play, edged St Mary’s into a lead they were not to surrender.
Seven minutes from the break Adam Corroon blasted the ball to the net and St Mary’s went on to lead 1-6 to 1-2 ahead.
A goal from Donal Sutcliffe midway through the half gave the visitors hope but points from Heslin and Enda Morris steadied the ship. Heslin sealed victory with an opportunist fisted goal.
