Hitting the bulls-eye

As our American friends have taught us, it's important to have an angle. And Noel McComish believes he has come up with something special to aid the Hospice Foundation in Co Wexford. By way of making the World Darts Grand Prix which is taking place in Rosslare at the time, McComish has arranged a Two-Course Team Challenge on Monday, October 23rd. On two courses in the one day? Certainly, by playing nine holes at St Helen's Bay and nine at Rosslare GC, he believes he'll hit the bulls-eye, in a manner of speaking.

THIS DAY IN GOLF HISTORY: On September 30th 1962 Mickey Wright captured her ninth tournament of the year, winning the San Diego Open in her native city. Not for the first time that year, Kathy Whitworth was runner-up. In fact she was runner-up to Wright on six occasions, including three-in-a-row.

TEASER: A practical joker removes the flagstick from the hole and sticks it into the putting green some distance from the hole. The players approaching the green are unaware of this action and they have played towards the flagstick and not the hole. Do the players have the option to replay (their shots)?

ANSWER: No. In equity (Rule 1-4), the players must accept the resultant advantage or disadvantage.
