Ireland's Michael Hoey is through to the last eight of the British Amateur Championship at Prestwick. The Shandon Park player beat Didsbury's Daniel Wardrop 2 and 1 in the morning's third round before going on to win on the final green in the afternoon against David Skinn's of Lincoln.
Skinn's put two balls out of bounds at the last to lose a match he had led for 16 holes.
Ireland's other two competitors both lost narrowly in the third round, Gareth Maybin going to the 20th before succumbing to Australian Scott Strange and Tim Rice losing on the final green to Marlborough's Ian Campbell.
