Golf update: Michael Hoey has surged into the outright lead in the final day of the €1.25million Estoril Open de Portugal at Oitavos Dunes in Cascais.
Hoey fired four birdies in his first ten holes to reach six-under and move past a chasing pack of six players, including overnight leader Paul Broadhurst.
Broadhurst registered two early bogeys to slip back to five under, where he was joined by no less than four other golfers in a tie for second.
Of the early starters Hoey was first to make his move as he fired in three birdies during his first nine holes, going on to pick up another birdie at the par four 10th.
David Dixon and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño were also enjoying solid rounds as they were two under for their rounds approaching the turn.
Paul McGinley finished his week with a 71 to be three-over for the tournament and just outside the top 50.
