Portumna CS - 13 Colaiste Iognaid - 12SCHOOLS RUGBY/Connacht Senior Cup, Quarter Finals:Holders Colaiste Iognaid lost by the narrowest of margins in this tight quarter-final played at Portumna yesterday. The city students took the lead after three minutes with a 35-metre penalty by full back Daniel Riordan.
Three minutes later Portumna number eight Raymond Kelly scored a try on the right, which centre Eoin Leonard converted.
Riordan struck two more good penalties for a half-time lead of 9-7.
Leonard scored a penalty for Portumna in the 42nd minute. But Colaiste replied with a fourth penalty on target in the 50th minute.
The victors secured success after 64 minutes when Leonard showed maturity with his second penalty which he struck from 40 metres.
