Templeogue College gave the 1998 finalists Newbridge a run for their money in this second-round game at Lakelands Park yesterday.

The match was decided with a try in each half, the first coming in the 25th minute when the impressive Eimhin Burns went over after a break by full back Barry Flanagan.

Before that Templeogue had a chance to score but centre Daragh O'Kelly was marginally wide with a kick from the left. The Templeogue pack held up well in the second half but with 10 minutes to go, Newbridge secured victory when number eight Anthony Kavanagh passed inside to wing forward Jonathan Holmes who went over from five yards out.
