FA Cup:The two teams least in need of assistance to progress in the FA Cup, Manchester United and Chelsea, each received their third successive home draw in the competition yesterday to ensure their status as favourites to lift the trophy at a rebuilt Wembley in May remains untroubled. Arsenal, too, will play at home in the fifth round if they can survive a fourth-round replay at Bolton.
Chelsea's progress seems particularly charmed. Manchester United have had to beat two Premiership teams, Aston Villa and Portsmouth, to set up a date with another, Reading. Jose Mourinho's side, meanwhile, eased past League Two Macclesfield beat League One Nottingham Forest and will face either Blackpool, from the same division, or Norwich from the Championship at the next stage.
Reading manager Steve Coppell was not enthused by the prospect of a return to Old Trafford, where Reading lost 3-2 exactly a month ago. "Nobody wants to be drawn away at Manchester United," he said. "It's the draw everyone would say is the hardest."
There will be three all-Premiership ties. Other than the match at Old Trafford, Fulham will host Tottenham and the winner of Bolton's replay against Arsenal will play Blackburn.
