There's something special in the air at Royal Tara these days, judging by the scores returned in recent competitions. A fortnight ago, Alma Leonard won her singles class with a 58 nett off 25 and in last Tuesday's President's Prize, Ann Gorman returned a massive 52 stableford points off 32.
The good scoring hasn't been confined to Meath. V-par competitions rarely provide such meaty material for handicap committees but they'll surely be sharpening their pencils down in Killarney after 22-handicapper Carmel Fitzgerald romped home with 12 up on the Mahony's Point course.
