Group Seven Holland's superior goal difference means they are effectively home and hosed, though a point from the home game against Turkey will confirm their neighbours Belgium as runners-up.

Group Nine A home win against Albania will secure a trip to France '98 for Germany. Portugal, meanwhile, must hope that Ukraine falter away to Armenia (unlikely) or their World Cup dream is over.
