Derry City 0 Bohemians 0: Bohemians, playing under temporary boss Gary Howlett for the first time, held the home side to a draw in the Brandywell last night.

Bohemians controlled the opening exchanges and created their first scoring chance in the fourth minute when Fergal Harkin's right-foot shot from just outside the penalty area was blocked by defender Paddy McLaughlin.

The Derry goalmouth was again under siege one minute later when goalkeeper Ciarán Kelly pushed away Dave Morrison's shot from just inside the area. The rebound fell to James Keddy but he fired over the crossbar.

Derry's only first-half attempt at a goal came in the ninth minute when Alan Murphy's free kick was pulled wide of goalkeeper Shay Kelly's right-hand upright.

Morrison's inswinging corner in the 22nd minute found Colin Harkins lurking unmarked at the far post but his header was cleared out of the danger zone by Derry captain Eamon Doherty.

Bohemians started the second half aggressively, but squandered a great opportunity in the 50th minute when they missed a penalty after City's Clive Delaney tackled Glen Crowe from behind.

Referee Eddie Barr immediately pointed to the penalty spot but Bohemians captain Kevin Hunt ballooned his kick over the bar.

Crowe had another chance to break the stalemate in the 60th minute. Keddy's long crossfield ball found Harkin down the right side and his inswinging cross was headed goalwards by Crowe but Kelly dived to his right and grabbed the ball.

Ken Oman was sent off for Bohemians in the 80th minute for a foul on McGlynn. The Bohemians player had been booked in the 38th minute.

The home side came within inches of grabbing a late, late winner in the 89th minute when Alan Murphy's free kick from just outside the penalty area clipped the crossbar.
