Dungannon coach Willie Anderson paid tribute to Ian Humphreys after the youngster held his nerve to kick a winning penalty in injury-time. David Humphreys' younger brother took over kicking duties from the injured Mark Bradley and although Colm Glynn had an opportunity to equalise, the AIL champions held out.
Alistair Redpath swung the game in Dungannon's favour with a 20th-minute try after Glynn had kicked three Buccaneers penalties. And after Humphreys slotted over a drop goal, and Bradley hit two penalties, the Tyrone men led 19-9 at the break.
Buccaneers lifted their game on the restart as Chris Keane landed a try. Glynn's conversion tied it at 19-19.Dungannon enjoyed territorial advantage despite losing Paddy Johns to the sin bin but it wasn't until injury-time that Humphreys slotted over the winner.
