Dungannon...32 Galwegians...12: Dungannon, determined not to lose their Division One status as All-Ireland League champions, turned on the power in the second half to virtually ensure survival. They looked uncomfortable in a dogged opening 40 minutes, during which Eric Elwood kicked three penalties to give Galwegians the edge.
David Humphreys' goal-kicking was wayward, but when Jan Cunningham went over after 31 minutes, the home side's fortunes began to look up. Elwood's third kick gave the visitors a 9-5 interval lead.
Humphreys was at the heart of two superbly worked scores in the 18th and 27th minutes, Seamus Mallon going over in the left corner and Cunningham grabbing his second. The Ireland outhalf broke his duck to slot over two penalties and three conversions. Cunningham scored Dungannon's fourth try in injury-time to give Paddy Johns a winning send-off.
