THE directors of Fairyhouse, joining with many organisations and places throughout this country and elsewhere in the world, will hold a minutes silence at 3.00 p.m. tomorrow to give their patrons the opportunity of expressing their abhorrence of violence and a prayer for peace.
Six of the eight runners for the Sutherland River Handicap Hurdle hold engagements in either Cheltenham's Coral Cup Hurdle, Hamlet Cigars Hurdle Final or Vincent O'Brien County Handicap Hurdle Naas today. The exceptions are Rockfield Native and Huncheon Chance.
In the expectation that Miltonfield and Rockfield Native will meet their engagements at Naas today, I like the Ian Ferguson trained Huncheon Chance, who ran the much improved New Co to just over four lengths when third over this distance at Gowran Park last Saturday.
Aidan O'Brien may land the EBF Novices Handicap Chase Final with Steel Mirror, who holds three Festival engagements. He just failed to give a stone to Cowanstown Lady over this course last time out, having blundered at the third last.
Love And Porter, who ran so well to finish third in the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park, may be sent to Cheltenham for the Mildmay of Flete Chase should he win the Tom Dreaper Handicap Chase.
Arthur Moore's staying hurdler Dee Ell might have a future over fences and is nominated for the beginners chase. Irish Breeze, who ran Mulkev Prince to a head over this course recently, can win the 30 strong Tolka River Maiden Hurdle; and Kerry Orchid is given another chance in the Hurley River Hunters Chase.
