NHL Division Two round-up:Three players - two Carlow and one Wicklow - received straight red cards as the visitors claimed victory with a nine-point, 2-14 to 1-8, win at a bitterly cold Dr Cullen Park, Carlow, yesterday.

In first-half injury-time, Carlow centre back Shane Kavanagh and Wicklow midfielder Leighton Glynn were issued with their marching orders following a melee. And, late in the second half, Carlow substitute Jack Kavanagh saw red for an injudicious pull on an opponent.

The straight red card for Leighton Glynn has implications for Mick O'Dwyer's footballers as the Glenealy man in also an established part of the current Wicklow football revolution under the Kerryman.

Meanwhile, a second-half scoring spree that elicited 2-10 saw Laois race to a comfortable 3-15 to 1-5 victory over Armagh in Keady yesterday.

In the other Division Two A game played yesterday, a point four minutes into added-time at the end gave Meath a share of the spoils at Páirc Tailteann - 0-16 to 2-10 - after Derry had led by 11 points at the break.

In Division Two B, it was another bad weekend for Kerry hurling and they can have few complaints about losing to visitors Westmeath by eight points - 4-11 to 1-12 - at a deserted Austin Stack Park on Saturday.

Westmeath were by far the stronger and more resourceful side as they condemned Kerry to their second loss in a row and it is difficult not to agree with one wag in an attendance of 64 diehards, who maintained that St Patrick might well have banished the hurlers, rather than snakes, out of the Kingdom.

In the other Division Two B game, Mayo and London drew 0-6 each.
